“The family agenda of the left [is to] provide…schooling for every four-year-old, so that minds can be controlled.  This will be accomplished first through government-sponsored child care centers.  Once established with federal funds, they should eventually drive unassisted church-based facilities out of competition.”
--Taken from Children at Risk, written by Dr. James Dobson in 1990

Scripture tells us in Psalms 127:3 that “…Children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.” As a “heritage” of Himself, God rewards parents with children.  They are given as a “reward” and a trust. They are not given to the state, or any other entity.

Families and churches face a dilemma today. Heretofore early childhood nurturing and training was considered to be the responsibility of the home and church.  Now, the state of Alabama has created an agency that plans on spending huge sums of money to “universalize” Pre-K, and will, in time put many church Pre-K ministries out of business.  In numerous publications the state has insinuated that if parents do not choose one of its “high quality” Pre-K programs that their young son or daughter will fail in life. This is despite the fact that no research any where indicates that this would happen.

The coalition of partners that seek to protect church Pre-K call upon the Governor and the Alabama Legislature to pursue policy that empowers parents to choose what they believe to be best for their child, while at the same time focusing on the 25% of those children that are underserved in Alabama that can benefit from intense, quality, Pre-K.
